Once you’ve kicked off your launch you need to focus on getting some review on your product ASAP.

Reviews on your Gumroad page will make it much easier for future buyers to make a purchase decision.

This is an important event during your launch - don’t wait until afterwards.

We can use Gumroad’s Post feature here.

Basically with Posts we can prepare a short post asking for reviews and offering an incentive.

We then post it so that all the people who purchased a particular product get emailed the post.

Normally this is used to update customers on product updates - so we’re being a bit cheeky using it for reviews.

To do this go to Gumroad > Posts > New Post

Use the “Brought” filter to select buyers of the product only.

Then use the prompt:

Act as an expert copywriter.

Write a post requesting customers to leave a review for [product].

Thank them for their purchase and explain why reviews are so important.

Then offer them a free upgrade to the next tier of product when it is released
[copy/paste tier 2 details including price]

Emphasise the saving they'll make.

You can also directly email people from your email account by getting their emails from Gumroad. Early on this may be worthwhile - make a personal connection, ask how they are finding it, what you can do to better help them and ask for feedback and a review if they can.

This works wonders early on when there are small numbers of buyers. Use this white glove concierge approach with your most valuable (first!) customers.

One alternative method is to gather reviews not only on Gumroad but also via social media, your email newsletter and any other places where you can tap into an existing audience.

My tool of choice for doing this is Senja. You may know this name from the slick review tool you’ve seen me use during this course to ask for reviews.

The beauty of Senja is that you can embed its reviews into your pages and other locations for instant social proof. It’s a lot slicker than doing this manually. It also will increase the number of reviews you collect not only because the interface is so slick but also because it has neat ways to incentise reviews via giveaways and similar mechanisms.
