We’re now going to run the newsletter ideas we just generated through another prompt. Use this immediately below the list of ideas from the last step:
As a marketing strategist analyse this list of newsletter business ideas. This business involves creating a newsletter, building an audience and then monetising the audience through advertising and sponsorships.
Analyse them by these factors: total market size(+), value of subscribers(+) and competition(-). Score each factor out of 100 and use this to create a composite total score of 300 for the attractiveness of the newsletter business idea.
Sort all entries by their composite score, highest composite score at the top then descending. Present results in tabular form.
This will run an analysis on the ideas and help you to make a decision.
Obviously these are just suggestions and a start for your brainstorming. Ideally the newsletter should be an extension of your existing Audience building on X, which means you know best about what would work with your audience.
Also, as with all projects - we’re going to adapt. We need a basic starting idea right now to get rolling and then it’ll shift.
Prompt Entrepreneur for example used to be something very different.
It was a newsletter called Crushed Content where we took business news, articles and thought pieces are summarised them for busy entrepreneurs.
This newsletter pivoted as AI became more and more important for entrepreneurs. I started to cover more AI stories, tools and guides in Crushed Content and they were the most popular.
Eventually I pivoted the whole newsletter from Crushed Content into Prompt Entrepreneur.
You may find yourself making similar decisions in the future but because of the work you’ve been doing building your Audience first this is less likely. You’ll use your Audience to work out the best path forward for the newsletter.
For now just come up with a basic idea to get running with. Take note of it as we’ll be building on the initial idea shortly.
