In the previous Modules we defined our Business niche and carved out a space for ourselves on X.

Your niche will always be evolving so don’t worry if it’s shifted since you got started.

We’re going to use this step to refocus based on our learnings so that we can launch our newsletter with a tightly defined niche.

Specifically we want to review our most popular Expert Opinion and How-to content from X.

These were the more “in-depth” content types that we’ve been publishing on X. They are not meant to be high view viral bait but instead lower view count, more in-depth material that resonates with our more engaged audience.

The more engaged audience are the people we want to bring into our newsletter. They are further down our funnel and area ready to go deeper with our content and (shortly) products.

You should already have an idea of what sort of content this is: what topics, what presentation, what type of post. If so go and find those most popular in-depth posts.

If you are unsure then use GPT-4 Advanced Data Analysis and your X archive with this prompt:

Act as a social media analyst

Review my past Twitter posts and extract the top topics that were discussed.

Ignore short posts, focus on longer form and detailed posts where I showed expertise or produced a how-to guide

Return my top 5 topic areas as well as multiple examples of each.

This prompt will get you 80% of the way there but is limited by X’s data export not handling threads well.

Because ChatGPT doesn’t know which are our expert opinion and how-to guides the prompt gives some context. This should get you close enough to identify your topic areas but combine this with common sense and your own observations.

Once I’ve identified 5 topics I can use another prompt to help give me ideas for the newsletter

Act as a newsletter strategist

Provide 10 newsletter ideas related to and combining these topics.

Use your knowledge of newsletters like Milk Road, Morning Brew, CB Insights, The Hustle for context

Do not explicitly mention these newsletters.

The topics are [copy/paste topic areas]

My 5 topic areas were:

  • AI guides

  • chatgpt prompts

  • online business with AI

  • making money with AI

  • entrepreneurship

Output:

Looks pretty good!

ChatGPT uses its experience of existing newsletters (within its training range) to come up with some potential ideas for your newsletter.
