I initially got confused mixing up billions and trillions—which, to be fair, we're all doing now in AI—but yes, they're eyeing a listing sometime in late 2026 or 2027. This comes right after they finalized their shift from nonprofit to for-profit earlier this week, which makes sense when you realize they need absolutely mountains of cash to keep training these models and chasing AGI. The big question remains whether you can actually spend your way to AGI, or if we need something fundamentally different. The restructuring is fascinating, really. The nonprofit OpenAI Foundation now holds a 26% stake in the for-profit arm, plus warrants for more shares if they hit certain milestones. They're projecting $20 billion in revenue by year's end but aren't actually profitable yet, which is wild when you think about it.
